You're in between camp & school, it's raining, and your kids are bored. Let's turn this mood around! These indoor activity ideas are perfect for a rainy summer day.

While called a museum, I'd say it's more of an indoor playground, and a very affordable one, with admission for ages 1-3 at just $6.50 and ages 4-99 for $7.50 and under 1 is free. Plus, admission is good for all day play! Prices don't get better than that. They have a toddler play area for ages 0-3 that's enclosed for your peace of mind. My two toddlers LOVED it. They also have a Winn Dixies play supermarket, fire and emergency rescue play station, 50's themed play cafe, slides and so much more! It's open 9:30-5, but note that it's closed on Sundays.
This spot has a children's section with many toys and sensory games and children's books. Child and adult sized seating, 2 bathrooms right there with changing tables, water fountains, adult and child size rockers, couches and soft flooring so you can put a baby down with a blanket! Toys include Lego table, train table, fidget toys on the wall, car track, and more! They also have summer class and activity schedules.

Located just 10 minutes from the Jacksonville Zoo, this little known play space is a great spot for parents to unwind and sip some coffee while their younger children play in a Montessori-inspired indoor playground.
"We really enjoyed the open space and the wooden toys and structures. It was clean and not too crowded. Built for ages 0-6, it's a great respite from the summer heat, and a perfect spot for playdates." - Felicia Gorelik
An exciting indoor playground experience for families. Located at 8102 Blanding Blvd, this vibrant facility features a variety of attractions, including climbing structures, slides, and obstacle courses, catering to children of all ages. A dedicated toddler area ensures safe play for younger visitors. Admission is priced at $22.90 per child, with two adults admitted free per child ticket, and allows for all-day access with re-entry privileges. Families can enjoy a day filled with fun and adventure in a clean and welcoming environment.
"It's fun and super clean! I wore new white socks and they were still white when we left 🙃."

This spot offers an inclusive and sensory-friendly environment where children of all abilities can engage in open play. Access a variety of equipment including trampolines, zip lines, swings, climbing walls, and a crash pit. Additionally, the facility features an arts & crafts area with activities like beading, painting, and a chalk wall. They recently renovated and it's wonderful!

A premier indoor entertainment destination offering a diverse range of attractions for all ages. The park features activities such as go-karts, bumper cars, virtual reality experiences, a ropes course, climbing walls, dodgeball, and a warrior course. Open play hours vary throughout the week, with extended hours on weekends, providing ample opportunities for
family fun.

Okay, you've seen a bunch of indoor playgrounds but you want something more low key, I got you. Whenever I'm in a bind I take my girls to Barnes N Nobles. By the kids section there are a whole bunch of sticker books for under $10. I let them each pick one out and they are so happy! They have cute ones where you can dress up characters in outfits or put animals in a zoo. Either way, they can pick their favorite one, go home, they play with their stickers book quietly for at least 30 minutes and it's a good time. You can also pick up a drink for yourself while you're at it. :)
Side note: It make a really good airport activity too.
AMC Regency, Orange Park, Fleming Island, and Classic Yule are offering the Summer Movie Camp, featuring $3 movies on Mondays and Wednesdays at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. throughout the summer. Films include The Bad Guys, Minions: The Rise of Gru, and Despicable Me 4. Tickets can be purchased online, making it a convenient and affordable option for families. 🍿
A low key and budget-friendly idea is to take a trip to Dollar Tree and pick up a few activity books for the kids. You can find a wide variety of options, from coloring books and puzzle books to educational activity pads that help with math, reading, and creativity. Let the kids pick out their favorites, and then spend the afternoon enjoying some quiet, screen-free time as they color, solve puzzles, and get creative. It’s an easy way to keep them entertained, stimulate their minds, and even sneak in a little learning—all without breaking the bank! Books are just $1.25!
There's a few spots in Jacksonville that have laser tag, but I LOVED this specific battle arena! Sometimes they even have attraction passes on Groupon and you can get a really good deal. Go play a few games, you'll get a good workout, it's fun for adults and kids, and it'll kill some time out of the rain or sun! They also have arcades if you wanna do some games afterwards.
